Enterprise waterways are strictly prohibited from passing through residential areas, tank farms, or production facilities. Workshop wastewater must be properly installed with open ditches and pipes. When treating wastewater in open ditches, clean water must be used to prevent secondary pollution. Outdoor sewer lines must be sealed and covered with soil or culverts.
Domestic wastewater must not be directly connected to other waterways. If mixing of domestic and chemical wastewater is unavoidable, a pumping station can be used for transportation, but flammable and explosive gases must be prevented from entering.
During actual operation, it is strictly forbidden to mix substances that will decompose and release flammable or explosive materials. Clean water must be used to clean workshop floors, pipes for cleaning equipment, and wells to prevent the accumulation of flammable and explosive substances. When cleaning wastewater from hazardous materials equipment, it must be purified first to remove harmful, flammable, and explosive substances. Discharge is only permitted after the emissions meet the required standards.
Wastewater discharged from process equipment must not be directly discharged into sewer pipes. Before discharge, flammable gases and liquids must be completely removed. This can be achieved by installing local degassing and evaporation systems in the workshop, as well as a plant-wide wastewater degassing system. Furthermore, wastewater exceeding 40 degrees Celsius should avoid direct discharge. Flanges and liquid seal devices must be installed in the drainage pipelines from process equipment to the sewer system.
For wastewater treatment systems, water seal wells must be installed to prevent combustion and explosion from spreading along the pipelines. When installing water seals, the following points should be noted:
Each production wastewater discharge system needs to be equipped with a corresponding water seal. If the distance between two water seals exceeds 300m, additional water seal wells are required. Water seals are required for furnaces, pumps, towers, and heat exchange equipment in the process unit. Water seals need to be added to the inlet and outlet pipes of the grease trap. Inspection wells must be of a closed type. If open drainage ditches are required for production facilities, water-sealed wells must be used to separate the open ditches, with a length limited to 20 meters.
To prevent corrosion of wells, sewer pipes, and water chambers, highly corrosion-resistant materials must be selected. For large-diameter pipes, reinforced concrete pipes can be used; for medium and small-diameter pipes, acid-resistant ceramic pipes can be used. Buildings can be coated with asphalt. For equipment used for transferring and treating wastewater, alloy steel is preferred, but carbon steel or other materials can also be used.
To prevent sediment from clogging pipes, water pipes, and facilities, wastewater needs to be purified using sedimentation tanks and clarifiers before discharge to remove suspended particles. Simultaneously, to prevent solid particles from accumulating in sewer pipes, a sloped design is required. The specific slope can be calculated using a formula.
For sewers containing accumulated steam and flammable gases, work is strictly prohibited until the hazard is eliminated. Exhaust pipes are strictly prohibited within 15 meters of locations emitting sparks or open flames. For buildings and equipment in wastewater treatment plants, fire separation distances must be set according to the "Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises." If flammable gases and liquids cannot be properly discharged during production and maintenance is required, an emergency alarm must be activated to prevent the discharged flammable gases and liquids from igniting an explosion.
